Conch Republic Divers is located on the north end of isla Morada. We are
located at mile marker 90.8 in the Tavernier
Creek Marina. Heading South on US1 you will pass
MM 91 and then cross Tavernier Creek bridge.
Look to the right and you will see a dive flag
atop a white building. The dive flag is above
the entrance to our shop. Take the first right
and go back to the dive flag. Within the marina,
if you are looking at the bait shop, look over
your left shoulder and you will be looking at
our front door.
From the North, from US 1, heading south, cross the Tavernier Creek Bridge. Take your very first right after the bridge. The boat is right outside our front window!
From the South, once you pass Coral Shores High
School, start paying attention. You will come
to an intersection with a real traffic light--there
aren't all that many in the Keys! Take your
first left AFTER the traffic light. Again, look
for the dive flag! (The boat will still be at
the front door.)
Note:If you've never been to the Keys before, once
you get here, the Mile Marker system will make
perfect sense. . . the key to it is the fact
that we really have only one road. . . it goes
from the mainland (mile marker 126) down to
Key West (mile marker 0) and everything is either
"oceanside" or "bayside"--except Key West, which
actually spreads out a bit. And while we're
on the subject of Key West. . . to avoid offending
the locals, please refrain from telling people
in Key Largo or Tavernier that you will be "going
down to the Keys"--as if you are not already
there. We hear it all the time, and we don't
mean to be snappy, but we ARE in the Keys! I
suppose the only other bit of geographical trivia
you need to know is that the stretch of US 1
between the mainland and the Keys is known as
the "18 mile stretch." It's not really 18 miles. |
