Conch
Republic Divers
offers
primarily private and semiprivate
instruction. We do not try to
be the fastest around or the
cheapest-especially for the
basic open water class. It is
our approach that you only get
certified once-you might as
well do it right!
That said, I believe our price
is competitive.
At the end of your course
you will have a dive table
and a log book. Our instructors
are patient and thorough and
have been diving for years.

| The
Discover
Scuba Diving Program
is for those of you who would
like to try scuba diving for
yourself during your
vacation but may not have time
for the full course. This one
day program is conducted by
a instructor and consists
of a short orientation followed
by your first underwater experience
in a swimming pool. By the afternoon
you'll be ready for an actual
scuba dive on a coral reef in
shallow, calm waters. Actually
you get to do two dives with
us since we run half day two
tank charters. At the end of
the program you will receive
a card, good
for two weeks, which will enable
you to dive under the supervision
of a PADI, NAUI, or SDI instructor without
repeating the pool session each
time.

The
Basic Open Water Course
can be completed in a couple of
ways. We offer the full course
certification with PADI, SDI, SSI and NAUI in
an intensive fashion, usually requiring
as little as 3 days to complete. This course
requires one half day of lecture,
one half day in the pool, a written
exam and four open water dives.
Since there is a lot of information
to be absorbed in a short period
of time, it is often best if you
can get the book ahead of time,
The Open Water Manual,
and take your time reading it. If
you do not have the opportunity
to do this, we do have books available.
In any case, it is often desirable
to have a little more than the minimum
amount of time available-this is
vacation after all, and to do the
full course in four days requires
some pretty long days. . .
We do require you to have your own
mask, fins, and snorkel when taking
the open water course. If you don't
have your own we have plenty to
choose from at our shop.
Another popular option is to do
the pool and classroom work wherever
home is and come down to the Keys
for the
Open Water
Check Out Dives.
Funny, when faced with the option
of diving in a cold, dark quarry
or lake, or coming to the warm,
colorful waters of the Keys, a lot
of people opt for coral and tropical
fish! Check-out dives require two
days, over the course of which you
will make four dives.
In
addition to the Open Water Course,
we offer
Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster, and
Specialty courses. Unfortunately,
we can not offer an Ice Diving Specialty.
. . We do however offer several
others such as Deep,
Night, Navigation
and
Wreck,
all of which require two days. Others,
such as Nitrox,
can be done in one. Night and Navigation
can be done with only an open water
certification. The others require
you to have completed an advanced
course prior to starting the specialty.
